Summary
A woman's skirt, part of a dress, made from black silk taffeta. The skirt has no surface decoration and is gathered onto a black silk taffeta waistband which is lined with brown cotton. It is partially lined at the hem in brown cotton, with one large concealed pocket on the right hand side and a smaller concealed pocket on the waistband on the left hand side. The hem is bound with black wool braid and the skirt fastens with two hooks and eyes on the waistband centre back, intact. A handwritten note on the inner face of the waistband reads, "McDonald-Tyler", the donor.
