Summary
A woman's bustle made from a red linen blend fabric. The bustle is constructed with eight quarter-length metal boning strips projecting from the back, with the front unboned and flat in keeping with the skirt styles of the period. Internally, the bustle is partially lined with blue and white stripe cotton ticking, with cotton tape drawstrings for adjustment of the boning strips, intact. A handwritten note inside the ticking lining reads "Circa 1881".
