Summary
A woman's wedding dress made from cream floral silk damask. The dress has a low, squared neckline, which is infilled with a silk net with embroidered edges. There is further trimming around the neck of a wide band of silk machine knitted lace. This also trims the cuffs of the sleeves. The bodice and sleeve cuffs are further embellished with rows of pearls. The dress opens CB fastening with metal hooks, metal embroidered eyes and stitched eyes. There is a waistband of folded silk damask, which is decorated at the back with a pearl and diamante bow. On the proper left side is a vent in the dress running down to the hem, which is infilled with silk embroidered net. At the top of this is a diamante and bugle bead swirl from which hangs a long tassel of drop pearls and bugle beads. The train of the dress is trimmed with machine cotton lace and is weighted at the back. The dress is fully lined in cream silk satin and a further interlining can be seen on the skirt of silk crepeline. The bodice is boned with whalebone strips and has silk satin placket behind the fastenings. There are silk covered sleeve protectors. At the CF on inside of the bodice are three ruffles of white silk taffeta. A maker's label on the inner waist tie of the dress reads, "Madame Doyle. Wicklow Street. Dublin".
