Summary
A woman's stocking from a pair of stockings, made from brown machine-knitted cotton lisle. New and unworn, the stocking is decorated with an ankle clock in a floral motif and is otherwise undecorated. A merchant's paper label still attached to the stocking cuff reads, "'577/39, 9", NQ.I, 2/11". A further manufacturer's stamp on the stocking sole reads, "42 Gauge Super Lisle. Made in England'. Handwritten onto the inner face of the stocking cuff the name "Brett", the donor.
