Summary
A woman's overdress made from white cotton gauze. The bodice is simply constructed with a plain weave cotton underbodice which is overlaid with white cotton gauze, pin-tucked from the shoulder to the waist front and back. The sleeves have two layers, with a puffed gauze inner sleeve and a full-length sheer gauze over-sleeve with a single hook & eye fastening on the cuff. The full skirt is gathered on the waistband and the lower half of the skirt is decorated with a combination of horizontal woven stripes and bands of tambour embroidery in a floral pattern. The skirt is unlined. The dress fastens with eight hooks and eyes on the bodice centre front, intact.
