Summary
A woman's bodice, part of a dress, made from black voile decorated with white spots. The long-sleeved bodice is trimmed at the elbow with gathered ruffles and two rows of black lace, the cuffs trimmed with three ruffles of black lace. The cuffs fasten with two metal hooks and eyes. The embroidered voile trim extends down both fronts and forms a deep V down the back of the bodice. The front openings of the bodice are formed from black silk overlaid with tucked and ruffled black lace. The inner bodice is formed from the black cotton lining; this is boned and fastens with metal hook and eye fastenings. The outer bodice fronts also fasten with metal hooks and eyes. There is an internal waistband with metal buckle made of black ribbed cotton and silk, embroidered with the manufacturer’s name. The lower edge of the bodice is bound with a black silk ribbon. A maker's stamp on the inner waist tie reads, "James Lindsay and Company, Ulster Arcade, Belfast".
