Summary
Woman’s coat. Black silk satin, loose fitting, batwing short evening coat. Front opening, fastens with large self-covered button and fabric loop. Hood gathered into back of neck. A single width of fabric runs from hem front to hem back each side of cot and incorporates the sleeves, slightly shaped under arms and tight fitting at cuff. Originally the coat was lined with a pale grey silk satin. Front facings are interlined with black plain weave cotton. The cuffs, hood and skirt are trimmed with a double row of black silk braid.
