Full description
The block is for a pattern called 'The Holmwood' designed by William Turner (desginer). It was printed by Charles Knowles & Co about 1913-14. The company specialised in the manufacturer of wallapaper which specialised in early 19th century patterns, however this is an interpretation of an 18cth century Indienne pattern. Charles Knowles & Co was a London based wallpaper firm whose production archive (log books, blocks and wallpaper samples) were purchased by the Sanderson factory in the early 20th century. Previously thought to be Arthur Sanderson & Sons.
