Summary
A mahogany two-seat sofa, English, late 19th century, of Queen Anne style, possibly manufactured and retailed by Morris & Co., the double humpback flanked by two side wings above outscrolled armrests, the seat with loose squab cushion, on cabriole legs with foliate motifs carved to the knees, upholstered in woven floral fabric (worn and patched) with striped wool to the underside of squab cushion and seat base, horsehair stuffed.
Provenance
The National Trust purchased Red House in 2003 to ensure its permanent preservation. The sofa was acquired with the house as part of this purchase.
