Summary
Plasterwork ceiling. The plasterwork takes the form of a broadly ribbed and panelled Jacobean style ceiling with plaster embellishments along the rib face and within the panel cells. A deep frieze, typical of the property, of similar construction but painted to mimic stone circumscribes the room. The plasterwork is believed to have been carried out under the auspices of Lord Curzon and is datable to his tenure c. 1915-21. The ceiling is constructed from fibrous panels with smaller casts, some possibly in papier mache, used to mask panel corners.
