Summary
Sampler, dated 1829, Frances James. Linen embroidered with coloured silks using cross stitch. Alphabet, numerals and texts divided by simple borders. With hearts, diamonds and birds. Inscription 'Frances Maria Grevis James Ightham Court Lodge Kent 1829. The Eyes of the Lord are in every place beholding the Evil and the Good. Soft answer turnest away wrath but Grievous words stir up anger Remember the CREATOR in the Days of thy Youth.
