Summary
Berlin Woolwork Sampler, undated, mid nineteenth century. Cotton single canvas embroidered with coloured wools, some silk and metal threads and brass beads, using cross, Florentine, three-sided stitches and laid and couched work. A long sampler of small detached geometric repeating patterns, including several 'lace'-style borders. Edges bound with pink silk ribbon and with a roller at one end covered with white glazed cotton.
