Summary

A set of eight walnut benches, after a design by Thomas Hope (1769–1831), English, late 19th century. Each with a plank seat with moulded edge and raised on three solid supports with S scroll carving and plinth bases. See: Hope's 'Household Furniture and Interior Decoration' 1807 plate 12 (6) for a comparable design.

Provenance

Loan from the National Portrait Gallery to Montacute House.
