Summary
A silver lace and red leather girdle. Possibly Sir Edward Green's Deputy Lieutenant's Uniform consisting of b) Trousers of black cloth, side seams trimmed with braid decorated in silver lace with oak leaves and acorns. c) Cocked Hat Black cloth. Diagonal decoration of oak leaves and acorn cups in silver thread, acorns of metal, metal badge of crown and oak leaves. Peaks with gilt lace knot and tassles laid in. Red lining, Label 'Joseph Starkey 25 Conduit St, London'. d) Shoulder Belt silver lace on red leather; attached a despatch box or red leather, metal front with royal cypher 'VR'. Belt has twin holders receiving two metal arrows on chains. e) Girdle silver lace and red leather. Two slings. Buckle decorated with rose surround by wreath of oak leaves. f) Girdle in black leather and canvas. Silver lace and red leather slings, plain braid shoulder straps. g) Pair of Black Silk Hose. h) Feather Plume in cardboard case. i) Girdle of black leather with canvas slings. Remark : Sir Edward Green was Deputy Lieutenant of the West Riding of Yorks and this is possibly his dress uniform. The gilt sword M/62a-c is possibly en suite. The epaulettes M/63 included in this box 2 ( the card M/63 has been changed to box 1) may not be en suite with T/41. THY/T/41a, a scarlet coatee en suite with this set, is stored in Tapestry Room QA Hanging Cupboard (see separate card).
