Summary
Eight day hooded wall clock in an oak case.The simple dome-top oak case is japanned in black with gilt decoration (now very dark) and has an apron below the dial.The clock mechanism comprises of a single train, weight driven, four pillar movement with anchor escapement and an alarm mechanism. Pendulum features a brass faced bob. Simple cylindrical lead driving weight.Originally of 30 hour duration, the movement has been extensively altered, including the whole wheel train, to make a clock of 8 day duration.The 4 ½ ” brass break-arch dial is decorated with engraved scrolling over spandrels and centre and with silvered brass chapter ring with roman numerals and dagger half hour markers. The arch has a brass domed boss signed: “John Latham London”. The dial centre is fitted with an engraved brass alarm disc, under the single pierced blued steel hour hand.
