Provenance
Gift from Mr Alan B Walker. Mr. Walker assumes this print of the portrait came from his late grandfather, Sir Ernest John Trevelyan DCL (1850-1924) who was a nephew of Sir Charles Edward Trevelyan and a second cousin to Sir Alfred.
Marks and inscriptions
Bottom left back board: Printed Heading reads- Abbey Prints.22,Hallgate, Hexham, Northumberland, NE46IXD TEL.0434 607550. A hand written letter reads as follows. This print is supported by a piece of mounted board which is causing some bowing. in order to prevent the picture from touching the glass, a piece of ? board has been fitted on the back of the mountboard using a PH neutral water based adhesive. A second piece of ? board has been fixed the mountboard with a pressure sensitive double sided tape. To remove the tape- gently separate the two pieces of ? board.
