A rosewood circular occasional table, English, circa 1880. The top with central circular fan motif surrounded by sycamore foliate scroll detail, the frieze fitted with three small swivel-action, velvet-lined drawers, one stamped EDWARDS & ROBERTS, on square outswept legs joined by a triangular undertier.
Full description
The firm of Edwards & Roberts was one of the foremost English cabinet-makers of the second half of the 19th century. Founded in 1845, the firm rapidly expanded, trading in Wardour Street, Soho and other premises close by, producing furniture of a modern design as well as copies of 18th and 19th century French and English pieces, but also restoring and dealing in original items of this kind. They ceased trading at the end of the century.
