Good quality percussion sporting gun, c1840, by Trulock & Son, Dublin, (active 1823-42). Round side-by-side iron barrels of Damascus twist construction with a central rib and 2 ramrod pipes, the rib signed TRULOCK & SON, 9 DAWSON ST., DUBLIN. Bead fore-sight at the mizzle. Engraved breech with platinum safety vents. Retained to the stock by 1 barrel-slide. Barrel length 76.9cm. Calibre 17.5mm. Walnut half-stock, chequered at the wrist and fore-stock. Engraved iron furniture comprising, butt-plate and trigger guard, its rear tang engraved with the Serial No. 2339. Double iron triggers. Old repair to the wrist using inset steel plates. Right and left-hand percussion locks of flat form, engraved with scrolls and foliage and signed TRULOCK & SON. Engraved dolphin hammers. Retained to the stock by 1 side-nail. Overall length: 119.4cm
