Good quality breech-loading pin-fire sporting gun by Thomas Boss & Co., London, c1870. Round side-by-side iron barrels of fine Damascus twist construction with a central top rib engraved BOSS & Co., 75 ST JAMES STREET, LONDON. Bead fore-sight. The barrels hinged to the engraved steel breech and frame, and having an under trigger guard barrel release lever that is pushed to the side to open the breech. The barrels tip down for reloading. A separate fore-stock attached to the barrel assembly by 1 barrel-slide. Barrel length 76.2cm. Calibre 18mm pin-fire. Walnut butt with a chequered wrist and a detachable chequered fore-stock. Engraved steel furniture comprising, butt-plate and trigger guard with long rear tang engraved with the Serial No. 2395. Double curved triggers. Vacant silver escutcheon to the butt. Right and left-hand pin-fire back-action locks, finely engraved with scrolls and foliage and signed BOSS & Co. Retained to the stock by 1 side-nail. Overall length: 117.5cm
