Summary
Marble, Faustina the Younger, after the antique. A white marble bust of Faustina the Younger (c. 130 AD - 175/6 AD), empress consort of Marcus Aurelius, with green and red marble tunic and mantle, upon a round socle. The hair is combed in wavy locks, parted at centre, drawn down at the sides to cover the ears and twisted in a bun at the nape. Faustina adopted this hairstyle on the occasion of the birth of her twins, the future emperor Commodus and Fulvius Antoninus in AD 161.
