Full description
The design of this bench is undoubtedly Dutch. Such benches were intended to stand in the hallways of Dutch houses. There are a number in English collections. There is a particularly fine example (amongst six in total) at Dunham Massey, Cheshire, carved in walnut, bearing the arms of the Booth family and probably made circa 1700.
