Summary

Half Turn hook blade - This tool and other similar are formed by drawing out iron plate and shaping with a combination of hammering and cutting. The edges are thinned until they can be ground and edged. The handle (tang) is formed by hammering it to a taper whereby the handle can be fitted. The tool is designed for use in trimming and coppicing, especially useful in laying down hedges. The blade is fairly heavy and therefore capable of cutting 1 - 2 inch thick branches with ease. The item is stamped Finch Bros and has a 6 stamped on it to identify catalogue position. Similar item features in the Finch Bros. tool catalogue, item no. 6.
