The 'Execution of Montrose' depicts a soldier pointing a pike at a man raising his hat in the foreground. Behind this stand a group of officials and a townscape is in the background. 'Monk Declaring a Free Parliament' depicts seven men standing at a table whilst a man in a feathered hat signs a declaration. Two men on the right are having a conversation and on the left a figure is hiding behind a partially open door. Inscribed - photo engraved by Goupil and Co., also - E.M.Ward, R.A.
