Summary

Walnut extending book holder. Two fretwork ends cut with quatrefoils at stylised foliage in ogee topped fields. Ends also with palmette tops. Ends hinged with 'P M and Co PATENT' hinges to sliding parts of base. Inscribed - Vic. early book rest 35/- D (on base) P M and Co PATENT (hinges) 1837 - 1901

Provenance

An item from the Pamela Ward Collection, left to the National Trust in Miss Ward's will in 1994.
