Head and shoulders portrait of a lady, turned tod the left, almost left profile, Her brown hair dressed high with a black ribbon on the top, wearing a black dress trimmed with white lace. Painting signed 'S H EVANS'. Inscribed on reverse: 'Caroline Ward 1872 S.H. Evans pinxit 17 Cambridge Passage Twickenham London'. Found in same envelope as WAR/D/014. Brown envelope with 'Messrs GRINDLAY and Co.,54, Parliament Street, LONDON, S.W.1' printed on front. 1872
