Summary
A large mahogany, rosewood and marquetry bookcase, English, circa 1970-1980. The upper section with moulded cornice and anthemion-inlaid frieze, enclosed by two pairs of doors with interlcaed astragal bars, the projecting lower section enclosed by two pairs of cupboard doors below four slender drawers, each door with shaped arched panel inlaid with ribbon-tied fruiting floral sprigs in sycamore, harewood, oak and ebonised walnut, within chequer strung and rosewood frames, standing on a plinth and with brass handles. This bookcase was made by Harland and Wolff cabinetmakers as a copy of one that furnished the captain's cabin on a White Star liner in the early 1900s.
