Summary
A figured walnut escritoire, Swiss, circa 1830-1850. Surmounted with a stepped superstructure containing a drawer and with two long frieze drawers (one with handles) above a fall-front enclosing a fitted interior of mahogany-banded bird's eye maple drawers around a central mahogany cupboard, the upper ogee part of the cupboard and the two flanking drawers forming one long drawer, above six small drawers all with mother of pearl inset handles, with a pull-out hinged baize-lined writing surface below, all flanked by spiral twist corner columns and with a further three long drawers below without handles, on turned bun feet.
