Summary
An oak bedstead, English, circa 1870. The twin-panel head board carved in high relief with two cherubs holding a mirror glass amongst foliage and grapes, flanked by posts with finials and centred with an angelic head, the foot board with three geometrically moulded panels centred with heraldic motifs including a horse with wings and a lion mask, above a row of linenfold panels below dentil moulding, also flanked by outer posts with finials, standing on short turned feet with castors, the pine-framed box spring with oval brass label DIAGONAL WOVEN WIRE MATTRESS, HERON, GRESHAM & CRAVEN, ENGINEERS, MANCHESTER, ROYAL LETTERS PATENT No 1203.
