Summary
A carved oak side table, formerly an altar table, English, circa 1860. In the Gothic taste, the rectangular cavetto-moulded top carved with sporadic rosettes and with a frieze pierced with tracery motifs, a central shield carved IHS, standing on substantial square legs carved with figures and pierced tracery openings, each leg with large pierced tracery spandrels.

Purchased in the auction rooms of Whitton and Laing, Exeter in 1975.
