Summary
Eight day mantel clock in mahogany case, No. 20674 by Frodsham and Co. Ltd., London, c.1890. Two-train, four-pillar, going-barrel, pendule de Paris movement, with Brocot escapement, Brocot suspension and rack half-hour striking on a gong. Backplate engraved: “CF 20674”.and pendulum stamped: “20674”. 12cm white enamel chapter ring with roman numerals and Brocot regulation square at XII. Engine turned gilt brass dial centre with curved reserve printed: “'20674, CHAS FRODSHAM & CO LTD,115 NEW BOND ST AND PARIS”. Blued steel demi-lune hands. Rectangular, ormolu-mounted mahogany case with the front set with laurel wreaths above and a laurel swag below the dial and an acanthus moulding over a stepped base with semi-circular gilt brass feet. The dial has a gilt brass bezel with convex glass over, the bezel also stamped: “20674”.
