Summary

One of a pair of early 19th century Chinese export pagodas in soapstone with gilt metal bells and finial, nine storeys high on an octagonal base and in a glass case. Standing on French Empire stands of burr walnut; decorated with gilt bands and roses in ormolu with four brass handles and marble top with brass rails.

Provenance

Bequeathed by Susan Buchan (nee Grosvenor), Lady Tweedsmuir (d.1977), mother of Alice, Lady Fairfax-Lucy, and formerly at Moor Park, Herts, home of the Ebury Grosvenors.
