Summary
Sculpture, plaster, Sir Thomas Lucy III, MP (1585 – 1640). An 18th century plaster bust of Sir Thomas Lucy III. He is depicted with long hair (down to his shoulders), a moustache and pointed goatee. His clothing has painted gold detail including the decorative square neckline. The bust sits on a rectangular marble plinth. It has white marble to the top and bottom with a grey veined marble main section. Sir Thomas Lucy II died in 1640 and this bust has been copied from his tomb in St Leonard’s Church, Charlecote.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
