Summary
Sculpture, plaster, Queen Elizabeth I (1533–1603) after Maximillian Colt (France 1595 - 1660). An 18th century plaster bust of Queen Elizabeth I. She wears a small crown, painted gold. She is depicted with curly hair and is wearing a necklace with a pendant which matches her earrings. She is wearing a large ruff with painted gold lace detail. The neckline of her dress is very decorative and also painted gold. Her cape is textured and has painted gold detail. The bust was copied from her tomb effigy which was made by sculptor Maximilian Colt
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
