Summary
Elaborate cast iron cooking range made by Eagle Range and Grate Co. Ltd. of St Paul's Churchyard, London, containing two ovens, adjustable dampers and hot plates each with four rings. Probably the apogee of this type of range. It won a gold medal, presumably at an international exhibition. The back above the range is lined with white ceramic tiles and there is a plate rack above.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
