Summary
Shepherdess statue, two thirds life size. She is holding a stainless steel crook. As Colonel George Lucy (d.1721) set about carrying on Captain Thomas's improvements, he had Joel Lobb carve him two whinstone pillars to carry statutes, and bought from Edward Hurst, of Hyde Park Corner, a leaden shepherd and shepherdess to stand on them'. (Alice Fairfax-Lucy, Charlecote and the Lucys, page 173) At Warwickshire County Records Office there is a receipted bill dated 16 September 1718 from Edward Hurst to George Lucy esq 'for a large Diana with a buck at £21 and for a 'shepard and shepardis at £20'. (Reference L6/1099).

Crook was made and fitted in 1985 by Naylor Conservation (see conservation report).
