Summary
Large iron lantern with decorative dome top and a hexagonal base. The lantern has six balled feet and decorative fretwork to each corner of the domed section. Clear glass rectangular panels on each side and a circular piece to the base. Hanging from a chain on a large hook which is attached to a hook fitting in the ceiling. Wired for electricity. One of a pair in the Great Hall (533181.1-2) that are the same design as the lanterns in the Porch (533180) and Staircase Hall (533218).
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
