Summary
A pedestal, English, circa 1850. A tapered pedestal of ebonised wood, veneered mahogany and amboyna on a spreading foot. It has a rectangular grey veined marble top above a frieze mounted with an ormolu laurel wreath garland. The front is mounted with an ormolu large medallion depicting a female figure in contrapposto stance, dressed in the mythological style tunic holding roses in her right arm.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
