Summary
An oak Canterbury, English, circa 1850, with slatted sides, curved top and with four dividers. The front is fitted with two graduated long drawers. On four carved legs with beaded collars, brass caps and castors. Used to store music, named after the 18th Century Primate of the Church of England who was the first to order such a piece of furniture.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
