Summary
An oak log box or bin, English, first half of the 19th century. The front has five panels, the sides each have two panels. The corner posts are chamfered and facetted and topped by four ball finials. The box has a base moulding and four ball feet. In its present position by the fireplace in the Great Hall as depicted in a lithograph of the hall in 1845 engraved by F. W. Hulme (532939.1).
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
