Summary
Sword and leather scabbard, gilt hilt featuring a silver twisted wire handle with a crown shaped pommel. Its fold-down guard is decorated with the royal cypher. There is also a decorative sword knot attached to the pommel and wrapped around the knuckle guard. There is decorative floral motif engraving on the blade. The sword is inscribed: '5 King St Golden Sq London'. Part of a collection of twelve swords and scabbards.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
