Summary
Sword and leather scabbard, with a gilt slotted hilt with possibly ivory grip and Lions head pommel. The handguard on the hilt has a cartouche of a royal cypher. The blade has a blue and gilt decoration which features floral motifs, standards and arms and a royal cypher. Part of a collection of twelve swords and scabbards.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
