Provenance
Monograph on Fountains Abbey by J. Arthur Reeve published in 1892. The 1st Marquess of Ripon appears on the list of subscribers within the monograph itself. His only son, Frederick Oliver Robinson, 2nd Marquess died without issue and the estate was acquired by his cousin Commander Clare George Vyner, thence by descent. The family sold the estate in 1966 and personal effects were removed to Scotland where they remained until Commander Vyner’s death in 1989 when they were inherited by the donor. Gifted to the National Trust for display at Fountains and Studley Royal in April 2024.
