Summary
Painted 54mm model figure by Hussar Military Miniatures, representing a member of the Huron-Wendat Nation, c.1990. Part of a series of figures representing combatants in the Seven Years’ War. A plaque on the base describes the figure as a ‘Huron Indian’, this is the manufacturer’s title, repeated here in the interests of research and historical data. ‘Huron’ is the name given to the people by French settlers, they called themselves Wendat or Wyandot. Today Wendat people are officially called the Huron-Wendat Nation in Canada (Nation Huronne-Wendat in French) and the Wyandotte Nation in the United States. In the Seven Years’ War, the Wendat allied themselves with the French, with whom they had longstanding trading links.
