Summary
Post card album. [136] p. ; 30 cm. Binding: Twentieth-century full green cloth; single black fillet to form an outer border on upper board; gilt lettered title on upper board: 'Post card album'. Mounted pictorial postcards, chiefly black and white views (a few in colour) of stately homes and churches in Great Britain. Includes several of Anglesey Abbey, South Walsham Hall [purchased in 1946 by Henry Rogers Broughton, 2nd Baron Fairhaven (1900-1973)], interiors of Ashridge [purchased in 1928 by Urban Hanlon Broughton (1857-1929) and given to the Conservative Party] and the 'Sapphire' [the yacht owned by Urban Hanlon Broughton (1857-1929), later by Cara Leland Rogers, Lady Fairhaven (1867-1939)]. Also includes a few reproductions of paintings from the National Portrait Gallery. Some unused pages at end. Occasional manuscript annotations in Lord Fairhaven's hand. Postcards are mounted in such a way that any text on verso is hidden.
