Caption
This etching with aquatint colouring depicts the state barge of the City of London on the Thames at Windsor Castle, making its way to Oxford during the Mayoralty of Sir Claudius Stephen Hunter. A lawyer by profession, Hunter became Lord Mayor on 9 November 1811. Three large flags of the City of London appear on the boat’s roof, along with two smaller flags of St George. At the bow, another flag depicts the coat of arms of the City. The Red Ensign flies at the stern.
