Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Richmond Thackeray (1781-1816) possibly George Chinnery (London 1774 – Macau 1852). Three-quarter length portrait of a man, turned to left, almost profile, seated in a chair, hair swept forward, long sideburns, wearing a blue velvet coat, white waistcoat white shirt with high collar and cravat. Inscription on reverse '19th September 1875. This miniature was given me by W.M. Thakeray as a portrait of his father - Edward Charles Pearman, Confidential Servant of the late W.M. Thackeray'.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
