Summary
Portrait miniature of Charles II, by Nicholas Dixon. 3/4 face to right, wearing lace cravat and full-bottomed wig. Oval, inset in bezel of large gold ring. No.2 in Guide 'A gold ring containing a portrait of Charles II. It is a superb example of Samuel Cooper's miniature work, and in all probability was painted in 1662 when he was limning the King's portrait for the new coinage'. Catalogue entry 'Charles II soon after his accession. A very fine head 3/4 right, the eyes facing. Oval, set in a large gold ring. Attributed to Samuel Cooper.

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
