Summary
Watercolour on paper, Windsor Castle, The Courtyard with Equestrian Statue by Joseph Nash the elder (1808-1878). Signed l.r. On back, written by Queen Mary in 1930 according to Bunt, is 'Emperor Nicholas I of Russia, the Prince Consort, Duke of Wellington, about year 1845 or 1846'. Hand of Sir Owen Morshead, Royal Librarian 'The figures in the cavalcade were by J. Doyle, whose original 2 drawings of them are in the Royal Library, Windsor Castle no's 16774-5.' Mounted on card.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
