Summary

Watercolour on paper, Queen Victoria and King Louis-Philippe entering St George's Hall for the Garter Banquet. 11 October 1844.by Joseph Nash the elder (1808-1878). Signed and dated l.l. On back, written by Queen Mary in 1930 according to Bunt, is 'Queen Victoria and King Louis Philippe'. Pencil note 'Another copy of this is in the Windsor Castle Library' hand of Sir Owen Morshead, Royal Librarian. Mounted on card.The Queen on the arm of the French King, entering St George's Hall from the Grand Reception Room after investing him with the Order of the Garter.

Provenance

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
