Summary
A large built-in oak dresser / House keeper's cupboard, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens (1869-1944), English, circa 1906-1910. The open centre section with divided shelves above a work surface with three drawers raised on baluster-turned legs, flanked by cupboard doors of graduated plank construction and enclosing shelves, on plinth base.
Provenance
Likely to have been installed in the castle post-1912 when work to the Entrance Hall saw the Kitchen wall moved. May be the work of Frederick Muntzer (1851-1939) who was Lutyens' principal interior designer, and was known to have visited the castle several times between 1909 and 1916.
